Handling: 24 hour urine collection requires a complete and accurate collection: 1. Patient empties bladder completely and discards first a.m. urine. Time starts now:_______________ 2. Collect all urine voided during the time period in the provided container. Keep urine refrigerated during collection period. 3. The final collection is made at the end of the timed period and added to the container. Time ends now:__________________ 4. Deliver to the lab as soon as possible after collection is complete. LAB INFO ONLY: Preservative (if needed) is added to urine when returned to the lab. PROCEDURE: This test performed daily. Results are available within 4 hours. Stat procedures are available 24 hours a day and results are available within 1 hour. Doctor will be notified if the turnaround time is exceeded. REFERENCE RANGE: 0-500 mg/24hrs
