Position Type/Hours:

Multiple Open Shifts
  • Full-time, 5:00am-2:00pm, Monday-Friday, rotating weekends & holidays (TriState Health location).
  • Part-time, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-12:00pm (TriState Clearwater Medical Clinic). *new position

Location:

Multiple Locations, SJRMC, Tri-State Health and Tri-State Clearwater Medical Clinic

Primary Function:

Collect blood from patients, check quality of blood, and assume responsibility for safety and comfort of patients following established standards and practices.

Work Performed:

▪ Follow and demonstrate PRL’s core values, which includes mutual respect and teamwork, a collegial work environment, and commitment to staff and patient safety.
▪ Understand and adhere to all safety and HIPAA related standards to ensure high quality patient care.
▪ Ensure accurate data entry into the laboratory information system.
▪ Label and store specimens as required.
▪ Prepare specimens for transport.
▪ Provide superior customer service to all patients and clients.
▪ Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques while following established procedures.
▪ Establish and maintain positive patient identification before, during, and after collection.
▪ Assist with preventive maintenance and QC of equipment.
▪ Assist in the orientation and training of volunteers, students, and new employees as requested.
▪ Attends meetings such as in-service meetings and department meetings.
▪ Maintains clean and stocked work areas.
▪ Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience Background:

▪ Typing, data entry, and technical skills preferred.
▪ Phlebotomy experience preferred.
▪ Phlebotomy certification preferred, American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.

Educational Background:

▪ High School Diploma or equivalent required.
▪ Valid driver’s license required.
